If a will exists, the designated “executors” are in charge of carrying out the terms of the will. Without a will, the estate will be divided in accordance with the Intestacy Rules.

Except where an estate is very small it is likely that the executors will need to deal with the administration of the estate including arranging payment of any inheritance or other Taxes that may be due.
